Special thanks go to Dave Cassel from 10 Zen Monkeys for finding and loaning the VHS tape to me. Jayne Mastodonte Adventures is a Brazilian comic written and illustrated by Flavio Luiz. I’ve highlighted the different sections and my own highlights in the video’s comments, but feel free to add your own on Viddler. Keep an eye out for references to Wargames, hackers, Boy George, Ronald Reagan, and more. With an Apple II, a Kaypro 2, cheeseball computer animation and a grab-bag of corny jokes, this is classic computing from the VHS era. Brody, along with a driver and the actor's three children. The LP’s completely unavailable, but thanks to Sammy Reed’s wonderfully strange podcast, I was able to recreate the full album. The video was originally inspired by the couple’s Grammy-nominated “Everything You Wanted to Know About Home Computers,” a vinyl LP released by Casablanca/Polygram Records in 1983. In Computability, an instructional VHS tape from 1984, comedian Steve Allen and actress Jayne Meadows “take us on a light-hearted but detailed tour of the ways a home computer can change your life by simply using the correct software packages to suit your needs.” It’s great that there are now picture book versions of the stories too.Fortunately, one unlikely celebrity couple is here to guide us through the brave new world of spread sheets, data banks, and modems. My daughter finds the stories about life with the Large family very amusing, there’s always something going on with four young elephants in the house! We were thrilled when author Lorraine Francis recommended Katie Morag and the Two Grandmothers as my daughter loves the stories about family life on a remote Scottish island. Flvio Luiz Rodrigues Nogueira, 54, is the author of Agente Sommos, A, o capoeirista, O Cabra, Jayne Mastodonte, and Rota 66. ![]() We looked through our bookshelf to find some of our favourite book families. I would love to see alternative versions of The My Family Tree Book to incorporate different family structures, e.g patchwork families, stepfamilies and families with single sex parents. These include looking at maps to find out where relatives live or were born, finding out more about the year that the child was born and reading family diaries and old school reports. Where possible it is a lovely activity for a child to do with a grandparent and my daughter is looking forward to asking Grandma and Grandpa questions when we next visit.Īt the end of the book there is also a list of suggestions to stimulate extension activities. The grandparents’ pages also include interesting information, how old was grandma when the child’s father or mother was born, jobs that grandparents have had and the chance for them to share a memory with the child. where we went to school and what jobs we have had. My daughter has really enjoyed filling out the book and finding out more about me and her dad, e.g. There are two spaces for photos and a frame where the child can draw their own picture. ![]() ![]() At the beginning is a double page spread for the child and each parent to fill in and includes sections about birthdate and place, hair and eye colour and favourite food. My Family Tree Book is beautifully laid out with plenty of space to record information. It is a beautifully illustrated activity book for children to record information about parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins and draw their own family tree. I have bought My Family Tree Book for several children as presents and my daughter has just received a copy from her grandparents.
